Glory and Zoe's First Birthday Session

What better way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday than with a cake smash session?! The first birthday is a huge milestone for babies and for families. For babies, it it’s like a graduation to toddlerhood from the marathon sprint that happens during baby’s first year. For parents, it marks a year of survival and transition. For me, it capped off my first year as a twin mom. I look back and realize that this time last year, I was doing something I never dreamed I would have done - giving birth to twins. And over the past year, the days have been long but the year seemed so short. I look at all of the things that Glory and Zoe can do now that they couldn’t do last year. I think about what could have been our story, and I’m grateful that we made it through anyway. Glory and Zoe have brought so much joy into our lives and today, we celebrate them.

I loved being able to capture the bond between all three sisters at play. The truth is that they love Autumn and are fascinated by everything she does. She lives to make them smile and laugh. When I was pregnant with the twins I worried that they wouldn’t really be close because there’s a 5 year gap between them, but Autumn has taken her role as big sister in stride. She loves spending time with them and will opt to play with them and their toys over playing with her more age appropriate toys in a heartbeat. She makes silly faces and noises and Glory and Zoe cannot get enough. In the pictures above, I was just trying to pose them together and it turned into this whole spontaneous drum fest. You can see that Autumn just brings her own energy.
