When Wonder first reached out to me, she said she needed a headshot for an upcoming event. She is a board member for Called to Peace Ministries, an organization which focuses on helping victims of domestic abuse. Their 2023 retreat is coming up and as a presenting speaker, her headshot would be in the marketing materials and on the organization’s website. After chatting with her during the initial call, I learned that her previous headshot was about 20 years old. So, she was overdue to update her headshots anyway.

At her pre-session consultation appointment, we decided that it would be best to have the session in her home. We planned on three outfits and talked through accessories. We also talked about what she wanted her headshots to say about her. She told me she wanted to feel beautiful and project confidence. One of the things I’ve noticed from recent headshot sessions is that the complimentary makeup application tends to give my clients that boost of confidence that reads beautifully in front of the camera. It’s normal to be nervous in front of the camera, but there’s something that shifts when you know you look good. I love to see it. Here are some of Wonder’s favorite shots from her session.
